Grains cleaning

The correct condition of the grains is fundamental for their further milling. The main objective of the grain cleaning process is the separation and removal of foreign particles and the dampening of grains.

When designing each of the machines that belong to the cleaning process, Prillwitz takes into account its cost-benefit ratio, thus designing machines that are highly efficient in both cost and energy. Consequently, our cleaning and pre-cleaning system will never be integrated with redundant equipment.

There is not a unique machine capable of performing the whole cleaning process in one stage, but several machines that in a consecutive way are intended to clean the grains.

According to this, we can classify those stages into different categories:

  • Preliminar cleaning: it is the cleaning process performed before sending the grains to the mill.
  • First cleaning: it is the first cleaning process performed once in the mill, and previous to the damping of the grains.
  • Second cleaning: it is the cleaning process implemented once the grains have been dampened. Among the machines used in this stage one can find the Scourer whose main task consist in detaching small husks already loosen in the tempering bins. Scourers along with dehuskers contribute significantly to avoid contamination.
